Africa is the birthplace of coffee and still the gold standard for specialty coffee. African coffees are typically highly flavorful with prominent fruity and floral notes.  We usually roast our African coffee beans to a light or light-medium level, which allows the distinct flavor of each crop to shine through.  African coffees are excellent candidates for pour over and drip brew methods.  If you're adventurous you can always try them as an espresso but results vary wildly! :)

Our current African coffee beans are from Tanzania

THE STORY:

The highest point in Africa is the summit of Tanzania’s Mt. Kilimanjaro. This magnificent country — the largest in East Africa — shares a border with Kenya, though coffee was first planted here in 1898, by way of Ethiopia. Tanzania’s vast and varied territory is ideal for cultivating high-quality Arabica coffee shrubs. Coffees from the Kilimanjaro region tend to be full-bodied, with chocolate and caramel notes, while the Mbeya region boasts unique orange and lemon citrus notes and the Karatu region is celebrated for its distinctively blueberry and blackberry cup profiles.
